OUR BACKGROUND

The Full Story

At Furry Friendz, our passion for cats runs deep. My husband and I always had cats around when we were growing up and as you may agree, these little guys can grow on you rather quickly. We have always felt that we connect with cats and understand them on their level. Every cat we have rescued had unique personalities. No matter their quirks, they have always shown us unconditional love and affection. We truly believe their mental health is directly related to their environment. This has led to an almost addictive sense of purpose that has inspired Furry Friendz from day one. We always knew we wanted to give back the love and affection these wonderful animals have shown us. We developed Furry Friendz in effort to affect that goal. We want every cat to feel the love, support, and security that our babies feel and have offered us our entire lives.

We began to study the needs of cats and the cat-guardian community we want to serve. We studied cat fact books and learned more about their behaviors and their quirky ways. We began to speak to other cat-guardians who have had successes, along with those who may be dealing with a cat that is hard to live with, seems “standoffish” or is just plain “mean”. We continue to expand our knowledge and love of cats. This has helped us establish a better understanding of why certain negative behaviors exist and persist not only with the cat but with the guardian as well. We have found that if your cat is in good physical health, negative behaviors in are typically environmentally related. These behaviors will manifest is very different ways ranging from chewing on clothing items or shoes to suddenly urinating somewhere out of character. Sometimes the pet guardian may feel at a loss for why their pet is behaving poorly or just seems “off” in some way. It really can be as simple as getting these guys up off the floor and allowing them to own and oversee their territory, in turn helping to restore order to their emotional stability. We see this most often with pet guardians who have recently moved into a new home where their pet just cannot seem to get comfortable in their new space. Often, cat-guardians do not realize that their cat is trying to tell them something when they display some of their “odd” behaviors. Being able to decipher these behaviors is key when creating new spaces and environments for our pets. This has aided us in our ability to better serve our cat-guardians and thusly their babies as well.

Emotional safety for your Furry Friend is paramount, but just as equally is their physical safety. Millions of people have indoor / outdoor cats but not all of them could escape danger in the event they are left outside. Indeed, cats are scrappy and can generally hold their own as you will see in the video below, however a cat’s first instinct is always to run from a predator bigger than itself. Whether it is day or night, house cats have significant predatory threats that can lead to catastrophic endings if they are not given the opportunity to escape. As an example, please check out this video. I must warn you; this can be difficult to watch.

We treat our babies like family members, and they treat us like deity. To us they are temporary, for them we are forever. We feel the least we can do is honor their limited time here and the unconditional love they show us every day. We do that by expanding our love for our little ones beyond our walls and onto yours.

Thank you so much for stopping by our website and reading about our purpose. We look forward to meeting you and your Furry Friendz!
